Overview
What is the Police HomeCare Wellness Centre?
The Police HomeCare Wellness Centre has been established to offer wellness activities on-site at our Carrington Street premises in Adelaide.
The first class being offered is an exercise class using the Method.
How can wellness activities complement home care?
Our wellness centre focuses on activities that support balance, cardio-vascular health, intrinsic strengthening, rib mobility, ankle mobility, healthy feet, and hip health.
These are important exercises for everybody and are particularly important for older people and people with disability or recovering from injury.
Who can use the Wellness Centre?
The Police HomeCare Services Wellness Centre will be available to NDIS, aged care and private clients. Gyrotonic classes are currently only available to private clients or by referral.
What is the Gyrotonic method?
The Gyrotonic Method is a way of moving that addresses the whole person by opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion, and improving strength and movement efficiency.
Carefully crafted sequences create balance, efficiency, strength and flexibility.
The Gyrotonic Method involves special equipment to guide, assist and challenge the exerciser. A unique movement practice, it has its roots in yoga, tai chi, gymnastics and dance.
Why use the Gyrotonic Method?
With Gyrotonic exercises each movement flows into the next, allowing the joints to move through a natural range of motion without jarring or compression.
Who can benefit from the Gyrotonic Method?
People from all walks of life take Gyrotonic classes. Whether you are a fitness enthusiast, senior citizen, accomplished athlete, or someone recovering from an injury or living with a disability, the Gyrotonic Method can benefit you. Gyrotonic exercises can help rehabilitation clients recover more quickly and fully after an injury. They help athletes and everyday exercisers improve their performance. At the Police HomeCare Wellness Centre we have clients aged in their 20s to their 80s.
What is the difference between Gyrotonic movements and Method?
The Gyrotonic Method is practised using specialised equipment. Gyrokinesis movement applies the same movement principles but is floor-based.
Where are Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis sessions held?
The Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis Methods are practised in single or two-person classes under the instruction of a qualified Gyrotonic Trainer in the Police HomeCare Wellness Centre on the ground floor of 27 Carrington Street, Adelaide.
When are sessions available?
Currently, Gyrotonic sessions are available Monday to Thursday 9am-5pm and Friday 6am-2pm.
How much do Gyrotonic sessions cost?
A 55 minute single session is $98 and a 55 minute session for two people is $110.
