Frequently Asked Questions
Learn more about My Aged Care.
What is My Aged Care?
My Aged Care is the Australian Government’s central gateway to access aged care services. It helps older Australians find and access support at home, in the community, or in residential aged care facilities. In other words, you can be supported to live in your own home or location of choice with independence and dignity. A fundamental aspect of My Aged Care is that it is designed to put choice and control in the hands of those receiving the care, or their appointed guardians.
Who is eligible for My Aged Care services?
You may be eligible if you are aged 65 years or older (or 50+ for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people). Eligibility is determined through an assessment process which considers your health, mobility, and daily living needs.

Depending on your assessment, you may be eligible for:
- Help at home (cleaning, gardening, meal preparation)
- Personal care (showering, dressing)
- Transport to appointments or social outings
- Social support and companionship
- Home modifications (grab rails, ramps)
